These three days of high-altitude mountaineering training are designed for those who want to quickly acquire as much knowledge as possible to later navigate the glacier world independently. Proper walking with crampons, roping techniques on glaciers, various safety techniques, secure anchoring in snow and ice, and of course, crevasse rescue, are the main learning contents of this extended weekend. The long ascent to the high-altitude Schwarzenstein Hut counts as a full day of training, as we will cross a glacier, rope up accordingly, and make our first steps with crampons. For the following days, we just need to take a few steps outside the door and we are immediately in the glaciated playground for our exercises. Our mountain guides will also ensure that the theoretical content is covered adequately and that one or two mountain peaks are climbed.

Course Contents: Crevasse rescue, anchor building in snow and ice, glacier science, orientation, tour planning, materials science, among others.

Program:

Day 1: Meeting point and material check. Long ascent to the Schwarzenstein Hut, during which we already dedicate ourselves to training. (Roping on the glacier, walking with crampons, orientation)

Day 2: Training tour to Schwarzenstein 3370m. (Tour planning, anchor building in snow and ice, glacier science, materials science)

Day 3: Near the hut, we dedicate ourselves to crevasse fall and rescue. As a useful exercise in walking with a short rope and in block terrain, the Floiten peak can be climbed. In the afternoon, we begin the descent, preferably on the variant over the glacier.
